Sunday, Oct. 31, nine Snoqualmie and Mountain View Elementary students

received certificates, ice cream and a special tour.

The kids received the honors for their winning participation in

the station’s fire escape planning contest.

“What we did was visit the schools, spend about a half hour,

and worked with them to come up with a fire escape plan for their homes,”

said firefighter Mike Bailey, who served as master of ceremonies. “From all

the ones they did, we chose a winner from each class.

We’ll pick an overall winner today and send it in to the national

competition. Whoever wins that will get a trip to Disneyworld.”

The winners were Kelsey Foster, Melissa Costa, Tyler O’Brien,

Doyun Kim, Levi Isaacs, Garrett Sim, Christian Holt and Luke Kromm.

Young Miss Kim, a second-grader at Snoqualmie Elementary School,

was picked as the overall contest winner, much to the delight of her family.

Chief Bob Rowe did the honors, handing out the certificates to

applause from the attendees. Then, following a big dish of ice cream with

toppings, all of the winners adjourned outside to check out the fire and

emergency equipment and try their hand at the fire hose.
