Leadership change for Snoqualmie parks department

Frank leaves park dept. top job; Mayor seeks advocate for community center

After six years as Snoqualmie Parks Director, Al Frank has resigned.

Snoqualmie Mayor Matt Larson asked Frank to step down last Monday, Sept. 29. Frank offered his resignation letter on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Larson told the Valley Record that he wants someone with a more assertive leadership style in the department’s top seat to advocate for a new community center and recreation programs.

The needs of the parks department have changed in the past several years, Larson said.

“I need someone with a different style that can meet the needs of the city,” he said.

“Personally, I have a lot of respect for Al,” the mayor added.

The city of Snoqualmie will hire an interim parks department director, who will guide the department over the next several months while a permanent replacement is found. Recently hired Public Works Director Dan Marcinko may end up providing some administrative backup for the parks division during the search, Larson said.
