The holidays are just around the corner, and the Snoqualmie Valley Kiwanis Club and Sterling Savings Bank are once more sponsoring the annual Giving Tree Program.

The program offers a way for residents and businesses in the Valley to make a better Christmas for those in need.

Sign-ups for families to benefit from the program’s gift room began Monday, Dec. 1, and continue through Monday, Dec. 15; they happen 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Sterling Savings Bank. This year, there is a three child per family limit, to ensure that there will be enough donations to go around to everyone.

To sign up, participants need photo ID to show proof of physical address as a Snoqualmie Valley resident.

Outlets for the Giving Trees this year are Safeway, Cascade Office Supply, Ace Hardware, QFC, IGA of Snoqualmie Ridge, Mike’s Grill of Snoqualmie Ridge, the Moose Lodge, Sterling Savings Bank, the North Bend Library, Hauglie Insurance Agency in Snoqualmie and Fall City offices, Eastside Storage of North Bend, Zoka’s Coffee, Snoqualmie Ridge, Sno-Falls Credit Union, and the Snoqualmie Railroad museum. Trees and tags will be at these locations through Tuesday, Dec. 16.

New for this year, Santa Train riders on the Snoqualmie Valley Historic Railroad are being given flyers, encouraging them to bring an unwrapped toy for the Giving Tree to help Valley residents.

Distribution of gifts is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, Dec. 18 and 19, at Si View Park.
