Si View Pool hosts a Junior Lifeguarding course for youths age 11 to 14, Dec. 1 to 18, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m.

The course builds a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards, and creates a lifeguarding feeder program to help aquatics supervisors recruit the most promising lifeguarding candidates for future employment. Junior Lifeguarding also introduces participants to lifesaving skills, such as in-water rescues, use of rescue tube, and first aid, CPR and AED.

Participants also have the opportunity to shadow lifeguards in rotation and swim instructors to get a real sense of being on the job.
