at Nazarene Church

The Snoqualmie Church of the Nazarene will hold its annual Vacation Bible School, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 18. Children can join for fun, games, music, crafts, snacks and Bible stories at the “Custom Garage,” where they will learn about loving God and serving others. Swing dance troupe to hold trip benefit

Eastside Swing Cats, a regional dance troupe that includes performers from North Bend and Carnation, will preview an upcoming performance at a dinner show on Sunday, July 13, in Bellevue, The fund-raising show, “Swingin’ Thru Time,” features dances of the swing era, as performed by director/performers Chris and Alison Evan and more than a dozen other Eastside dancers ages 8 to 25. Proceeds help pay for the Eastside Swing Cats to perform the same show Aug. 10 at Disneyland. The group was invited to dance for the second year in a row at Disneyland’s Carnation Plaza Stage.

The July 13 fund-raiser will be a three-part event. There will be workshops, a dinner show and dancing from 4 to 10 p.m. at the North Bellevue Community Center, 4063 148th Ave. N.E. The public may attend any or all portions.

Four one-hour dance workshops will be offered, two at 4 p.m. and two at 5 p.m. The 4 p.m. workshops will be an introduction to lindy hop and beginning aerials. The 5 p.m. workshops will be beginning Balboa and fun moves, such as freezes and shines. Partners are required for the aerials and Balboa workshops.

The “Swingin’ Thru Time” dinner show will follow at 6 p.m. with the Eastside Swing Cats dancing to such classics as “Shout and Feel It,” “Hep and Happy,” “Blue Moon” and “Bill’s Bounce.”

A free swing dance lesson will be offered at 7 p.m., followed by dancing from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for one workshop or $18 for two. The dinner show is $25 and includes admission to the dance. A special $35 ticket includes two workshops and the dinner show.
