Fall City X-mas lighting day set

The Fall City Days Tree Lighting Festival is planned for Saturday, Dec. 6.

The event includes a music program in the Fall City Elementary School gym, followed by the lighting of the trees at Quigley Park at about 5:30 p.m. Families can bring their cameras to get a picture with Santa.

Earlier in the day, the Fall City Arts Holiday Market is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chief Kanim Middle School. Fall City Days merchandise will be on sale at a discount.

Senior thrift store seeks volunteer help

The Mount Si Senior Center Thrift Store is looking for volunteers to help with sales and sort through donations for a few hours each week.

The store is located in the center, at 411 S. Main St., North Bend. To learn more about joining this group of women, call Janet at (425) 888-3434.

Candle lighting

for Alzheimers

To honor and remember individuals affected by Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers, the Sno-Valley Activity Center and Tolt Congregational United Church of Christ will host a commemorative candle lighting ceremony, 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13 at the church lobby, 4851 Tolt Ave. The ceremony will consist of introductions, caregiver sharing, prayer, music and refreshments after the candle lighting. The ceremony is part of a national initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America to shine a light on the “epidemic-like incidence” of Alzheimer’s disease. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, there are an estimated 5.2 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease, and this number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050.

Valley of the Moon gala set in Carnation

The Sno-Valley Senior Center in Carnation hosts its annual Valley of the Moon gala, Saturday, Nov. 15.

Tickets are $35 per person for a meal and holiday shopping galore.

The gala helps support the center’s programs keeping seniors active and independent through transportation, exercise classes, meals, activities and day trips. The center’s Adult Day Program serves adults who are frail or suffering from dementia, and provides vital respite for their caregivers.
