Bring your hunger to the Cowpie Eating Contest, held during the Tuesday, July 3, pre-Fourth celebrations in Carnation.

Three different age groups can test their stomach-stretching skills, devouring the Cowpie from Lazy K’s Pizza and Pasta in Carnation—a warm cookie the size of a small plate, and a popular dessert item at the restaurant.

The contest starts at 5:30 p.m. at Tolt Commons Park.

Children will race to see who can eat Cowpies the fastest. For each age group, the grand prize is a family day pass donated by Remlinger Farms. In the finale, the grand prize for the fastest boy and girl eaters is a $100 gift certificate to Lazy K’s. Each contestant wins a free Cowpie with a dinner purchase. Ixtapa retaurant also provided kids meal gift certificates for runners up.

All proceeds from the $10 entry fee go to the Carnation Fourth of July Committee to help continue the celebration.

“It’s a way for everyone to participate in the Fourth of July, have a great time and donate to the cause,” said Lazy K’s owner Kirsten Burt.

Participants can sign up the afternoon of the event, or during business hours at Lazy K’s on the days prior to the festival.
