This Valentine’s Day, Cowgirl Spirit Rescue Drill Team will be raising funds for their rescue horse effort by selling red rose bouquets.

The Valley horse rescue organization will be selling rose bouquets, as well as other Valentine’s gifts, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the corner of Redmond-Fall City Road and Sahalee Way.

There will be several types of arrangements available, including single roses, half-dozens, dozens, bouquets in vases, balloon sand Valentine’s Day cards.

The group may also bring one of their rescue horses, to show off their drill skills.

Shoppers can meet the team members and volunteers, who dedicate hours of their time to the cause.

Cowgirl Spirit’s mission is to raise awareness of equine slaughter in America, by education and by rescuing supposedly-worthless slaughter-bound horses. Through affection, training and dedication, team members develop the horses’ skill and spirit through equestrian drill competition. Then, they place horses in new adoptive homes to give them long, happy and productive lives as riding companions.

Since its inception in January 2005, Cowgirl Spirit has rescued more than 30 slaughter-bound horses that are now living fulfilling lives, while enriching the lives of their new owners. In the past year, the organization has grown significantly by moving their headquarters to a centralized location in Fall City, increasing their volunteer base, and expanding community awareness about the vast potential of slaughter-bound horses.
