North Bend residents and businesses neighboring the North Bend Community Church are invited to a public meeting, 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, at the North Bend Community Church.

Members of the Snoqualmie Valley Winter Shelter advisory board will present information about a temporary homeless shelter that will be hosted at North Bend Community Church, possibly in conjunction with another local church. Community members will be able to ask specific questions and raise any concerns they have about the shelter, which is tentatively scheduled to open Saturday, Dec. 22.

The homeless shelter has been developed over the last two months, through weekly meetings of volunteers and church groups, and with the help of Congregations for the Homeless, a Bellevue-based organization that is providing guidance and staff training for the North Bend shelter, and the Interfaith Task Force on Homelessness, a 501(c)3 organization that is accepting donations for the shelter until the group can establish its own non-profit organization.

Cash donations can be made by sending checks made out to Snoqualmie Valley Winter Shelter or SVWS, to the Interfaith Task Force on Homelessness, 3030 Bellevue Way N.E., Bellevue, WA 98004.

More information about the shelter is also available on the group’s Facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/SnoqualmieValleyWinterShelter.
