Grow your own food with help from Carnation garden workshop, Saturday

Transition Snoqualmie Valley will host a free gardening workshop, “Grow Your Own Food,” 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Sno-Valley Senior Center, 4610 Stephens Ave. in Carnation.

The gardening groups of Transition will present information for beginning and experienced gardeners, from how to get started, choose plants, prepare a plot and start and transplant seedlings, to organic pest control, saving seeds, edible landscaping, and raising backyard livestock.

There will also be books, information on community garden opportunities and plant availability, and presentations.

Building a strong community resilience, local economy and long-term sustainability are part of the goals of Transitions “Grow Your Own Food” event.
