The fifth annual Snoqualmie Valley Flood Awareness Workshop is tonight (Tuesday, Sept. 25,) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fall City Library, 33415 S.E. 42nd Place.

The workshop will review the NFIP reform, proposed flood insurance policy changes, retrofitting and dwelling mitigation options as well as flood safety measures. It will also feature a panel discussion on flooding issues in the Valley, with representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Administration, National Flood Insurance Program, King County, and the private sector.

King County staff will discuss current Flood Control District projects. FEMA and NFIP will describe the organizations’ efforts to become sustainable and what it will cost property owners.

Property owners can also learn how to prevent common problems when improving or selling, find local and regional resources to help before, during and after floods, and learn how to create an emergency plan and get prepared.
