The King County Flood Warning Center announced at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, that the Snoqualmie River has reached Flood Phase 3. The river rose quickly this morning, from a Flood Phase 2 alert at 10:30 a.m.

At Flood Phase 3, flooding is possible in various parts of the Snoqualmie Valley. Fall City-Carnation Road, Tolt Hill Road, and N.E. 124th Street are roads that commonly close during flooding.

As of 12:30 p.m., the stream gauge at Snoqualmie Falls indicated a depth of 11.46 feet and a flow rate of 14,900 cubic feet per second. The river is forecast to crest at this site around 11 p.m., at a depth of 12.83 feet, 19,821 cfs.

Significant flooding is not expected in the Upper Valley, but there could be some in low-lying areas, on streams near S.E. Reinig Road and Mill Pond Road.

Citizens can help prevent water from pooling in downtown streets by keeping the entrance to storm drains clear of debris, including accumulated leaves and tree branches. Storm drains help to quickly move water off streets.
