Firefighters quelled two fires in North Bend

The two fires occurred overnight and were unrelated.

Eastside Fire and Rescue responded to two fires that occurred overnight in North Bend on the same block of 400 Main Ave. South.

The fires were not related to each other in any way. The first fire was a thermostat fire in an apartment. The fire spread to a small area of the wall surrounding the thermostat. No further damage occurred. The call came in at approximately 2:22 a.m.

The second fire was called in as a bedroom fire. When crews arrived, they had light smoke from one of the bedroom windows, in a four-unit building. A quick attack of the fire from Engine 87, prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the apartment.

Crews checked for extension in the attic space, and the rest of the apartment. There were no injuries to the occupant, or firefighters. The fire is under investigation. This fire came in at approximately 6:52 a.m.
