Fall City water system advisory ends

Residents of Fall City's Riverview Park neighborhood were notified early Wednesday afternoon that a boil-water advisory declared last Thursday, Sept. 17, was over.

Residents of Fall City’s Riverview Park neighborhood were notified early Wednesday afternoon that a boil-water advisory declared last Thursday, Sept. 17, was over.

After two consecutive days of clean water reports, Fall City Water District indicated that E. coli bacteria was no longer present in the water early Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Routine system testing last Thursday detected the presence of E. coli, prompting the citywide recommendation to boil tap water before drinking it. By Friday, the advisory was limited to the Riverview Park area.

Water district spokesman Lyn Watts said the district had isolated the parts of the water system containing the bacteria, limited to Riverview Park, to keep the rest of the system safe. He also said that this was the first E.coli positive test in the history of the water district.

Watts recommends that those in the area of effect run their water for a while just to clean it out.

“We seem to have fixed the problem so I think we are in good shape,” Watts said. “We are going back to regular monthly testing of our entire system.”
