Explore new North Bend fire station plans at Depot talk

Residents can view the latest concepts for a new North Bend fire station, set to go to voters next year, at an open house this week.

The informational meeting is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the North Bend Railroad Depot, 205 McClellan St.

The city of North Bend and King County Fire District 38 have agreed to seek voter approval to fund the construction of a new fire station to serve the Upper Snoqualmie Valley. The city and district are now finalizing the process to receive public input in the design and function of the proposed station.

“The new facility will be built to serve our foreseeable needs, will meet or exceed earthquake standards, and have sustained capacity during extended power outages,” said Mayor Ken Hearing. “We will do our best to design a structure that will give us at least 50 years of community service.”

The project architect will be at Thursday’s open house to make a presentation about the initial plans and conceptual design.
