The Hearing Examiner approved the conditional use permit after reviewing the application, visiting the site, and conducting a public hearing. This type of housing is allowed as a conditional use under the Snoqualmie Municipal Code.

The shelter program opened Oct. 22.

Friends of Youth expects to serve local homeless young adults who need a supportive, positive place to stay.

The facility will have capacity for up to six short-term residents. The program will operate on Sunday through Thursday nights between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. and will provide a bed, dinner, laundry, shower and other services. Background checks will be performed immediately upon entrance to the facility, which will be staffed continuously with awake staff.
