New emergency radio station AM 1650 is up and running in the upper Snoqualmie Valley.

The cities of Snoqualmie and North Bend teamed up to provide radio listeners information about traffic incidents, impediments to travel and emergencies.

Content is currently limited, but once the operators “work out the bugs,” the station will also broadcast community information for travelers when not in use for emergencies, North Bend City Administrator Duncan Wilson said.

Following the November 2006 floods, North Bend and Snoqualmie partnered to obtain a license to operate the emergency radio station. Each city has its own antenna, but drivers should hear a seamless broadcast when traveling between them.
