Fire consumed a Carnation house early Thursday morning.

A neighbor called 911 at 4:51 a.m. to report a house fire in the 11400 block of West Lake Joy Drive Northeast, according to Eastside Fire & Rescue (EFR).

The house, a rambler with around 3,000 square feet, was already fully engulfed by flames when firefighters arrived, said Josie Williams, EFR’s spokeswoman.

Eleven units and more than 30 firefighters responded from Duvall, Fall City and Redmond.

No one was inside, but the resident’s two cats died in the fire. The resident, a woman in her 50s, had been at the store with her dog when the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and is under investigation.

The house is likely a total loss, Williams said.

Trees near the home caught fire, but firefighters contained the blaze before it could spread to neighboring houses.

“If this had been mid-summer, we would’ve had a very different outcome, with possibly several burned houses,” Williams said.

Firefighters were impeded by the property’s long, narrow driveway, which was inaccessible for the fire engines.

Williams urged people to consider their driveways’ accessibility.
