Downtown merchants to hold sidewalk sale

All that’s needed for a successful Snoqualmie sidewalk sale, planned for Saturday and Sunday, July 5 and 6, is a little cooperation from the weather.

The business event coincides with the Northwest Railway Museum’s summer train run and celebration of the Snoqualmie Depot’s 118th birthday. Downtown merchants plan to hold a sidewalk event that holiday weekend, enticing passersby with an eclectic variety of goods on temporary outdoor display.

“You always find deals,” said Scriptures Christian store owner Jamie Gleghorn. “Good deals, good bargains.”

A sidewalk sale offers a chance for businesses to attract new customers, put closeout items up for grabs and promote their regular inventory. A good variety and deals on wind spinners are among Flying Frog Curiosity Shop owner Mike Condit’s plans for his sidewalk offerings.

“Downtown merchants really do want to form a good partnership with the railroad museum,” said Bob Cole, the city of Snoqualmie’s economic consultant. Providing new attractions, services, and places to visit enhances the experience of railroad visitors.
