King County Sheriff’s detectives searched a wooded area near Duvall today looking for remains of a victim of the Green River killer. They used cadaver dogs in the search and more than a dozen Search and Rescue volunteers assisted in the evidence recovery attempt, but nothing was found.

Detectives said the information about the site searched, an area near N.E. 140th Street and 286th Avenue N.E.,is not new, but a thorough search of the area had not been done before. As time allows, they continue to look at information learned from Ridgway and conduct searches in areas that have not been searched before.

This area was one of many locations that convicted killer Gary Ridgway listed as a possible location for victims’ bodies. Ridgway, arrested in 2001 for four murders attributed to the Green River Killer, was eventually convicted of killing 49 women, and later confessed to killing more than 70 victims. Many of the women’s bodies have not been found.

Detectives had no specific information about which victim may have been hidden in the Duvall area.
