County fire marshals are investigating an apparent arson fire at a home under construction in Fall City.

Homeowners called the Fall City Fire District after arriving last Saturday, May 15, at their property in the 32700 block of Southeast 43rd Street and noticing a burned area on the front deck.

Fall City Fire Chief Chris Connor said investigators found clear signs that someone had poured or sprayed fuel onto the siding and deck of the property, then lit it.

“There was more than one location, so it obviously wasn’t accidental,” Connor said.

Fortunately for the owners, Connor said, the fire did not spread, though there was damage to the building.

Firefighters notified the King County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigator, who started a case file and confirmed that the incident was an arson.

King County has taken over the investigation. There is no suspect information at this time.
