All lanes of eastbound Interstate-90 near milepost 21 and Preston are re-opened now, following a serious collision that had all lanes shut down for several hours today.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident, which was reported at 10:17 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12. According to the State Patrol report, an 18 year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries when her red Toyota Camry collided with a semi-truck and trailer.

It is not clear what caused the collision, however, and anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call Detective Russ Haake at (425) 401-7717.

“Even with our beautiful weather, dangers on our roadway still exist. We ask that drivers pay attention to their surroundings, said Lieutenant Ken Noland, District 2 (King County) Acting Commander. Keep a safe following distance between vehicles and always be prepared for the unexpected.”

All eastbound lanes of the freeway were closed as emergency personnel responded to the scene. Lanes re-opened around 2 p.m.
