Carnation Mayor Jim Berger was recently appointed to the Association of Washington Cities Board of Directors. Berger represents the at-large western 2 board district, which includes cities and towns with a population below 5,000 west of the Cascades.

“Serving on the AWC board gives me an opportunity to help all cities and be more involved with state-wide issues,” said Berger.

The board of directors is the association’s governing body, comprised of 25 directors, 23 of whom are mayors or city councilmembers from Washington cities or towns, and two non-elected city officials.

Berger was elected to the Carnation city council in 2009 and has acted as mayor for the past four years.
