Caring for the community: Kiwanis recognize giving grocery manager

As long as Snoqualmie Valley Kiwanis member Harold Erland can remember, North Bend QFC manager Bill Weller and his family have displayed a strong sense of caring for the community.

As long as Snoqualmie Valley Kiwanis member Harold Erland can remember, North Bend QFC manager Bill Weller and his family have displayed a strong sense of caring for the community.

In honor of the Wellers’ local commitment and Bill’s behind-the-scenes stewardship, the Kiwanis surprised Weller last week with their Human Spirit award.

Kiwanis President Paul Tredway said Weller deserved it because he helps others in the Valley “without blowing his own horn.”

“He donates a lot,” Erland said. “He lets me shop the sales for the food bank, lets the Kiwanis do the giving tree, and (lets us) ring the bell for the Salvation Army out front.”

“He’s been such a steward in the community,” Erland added. “We like to recognize people who do good things.”

This will be Erland’s 25th year of ringing the Salvation Army bell for the holidays.
