Blotter: Vodka thief escapes on bicycle; trail walker’s ‘gun’ was only a phone

Police and fire agencies in the Snoqualmie Valley responded to the following calls:

Snoqualmie-North Bend Police Department

Sunday, April 16

Suspicious: At 2:35 a.m., police were called to the 700 block of SW Mount Si Boulevard, North Bend, after a report of two subjects, angry that McDonald’s had closed, pouring beer out in the parking lot. The drivers were gone by the time police arrived.

Theft: At 2:56 p.m., a man stole three Coach bags from a business on the 600 block of South Fork Avenue, SW in North Bend. Police were unable to locate the man.

Monday, April 17

Suspicious: At 11:04 p.m., a man and a woman meeting up on the 30000 block of SE Park Street, Snoqualmie, were reported to police. When police arrived at the scene they told the subjects to leave the park.

Citizen assist: 7:08 p.m., police were called to the 40000 block of SE North Bend Way, North Bend, after reports of a loud truck idling. Because the sound was so loud, the caller was concerned the driver would idle all night. Police advised the caller to call back if the noise continued past 10 p.m. so officers could check if the sound was unreasonably loud.

Suspicious: At 7:28 p.m., a man staring at kids playing soccer on the 30000 block of SE Ridge Street, Snoqualmie, was reported to police. The man ignored other parents and watched children from three vantage points. The caller told police they will call back if they find his vehicle to report the plate number.

Friday, April 21

Theft: At 6:53 p.m., a store in the 400 block of SW Mount Si Boulevard, North Bend, reported that five minutes earlier, a man had stolen vodka from the store and rode off on a bicycle. He was last seen biking on South Fork Avenue.

Sunday, April 23

Reckless driving: At 7 p.m., a man riding a red ATV along the sidewalk on E 2nd Street and Downing Avenue in North Bend was reported to police. Police contacted the man and warned him about driving on the sidewalks and road.

Monday, April 24

Suspicious: At 5:25 p.m., a man checking private property on the 6000 block of Cascade Avenue SE, Snoqualmie, with a metal detector was reported to police. The caller said the man was digging up holes in the area around Community Park. Police told the man to fix the holes and leave the area.

Thursday, April 27

No carts: At 8:12 p.m., an officer patrolling the Snoqualmie Valley Trail on foot contacted two men and a woman driving a golf cart on the trail. They were warned not to drive motorized vehicles on the trail.

Friday, April 28

Weapons offense: At 10:55 a.m., staff from North Bend Elementary School called police to report a man with a gun walking on the nearby trail. Officers found the man, who said he was only holding his phone. The officers cleared the area after looking for anyone else who could have matched the description.

Wednesday, April 19

Abdominal pain: At 6:13 p.m., a 50-year-old woman was experiencing abdominal pain and called 911. Firefighters from Fall City evaluated the woman and took her to a local hospital for treatment.

Thursday April 20

False Alarm: At 6:04 p.m., the Fall City Fire Department was dispatched to a fire alarm in a home. The crew arrived, determined there was no fire and helped reset the alarm.

Saturday, April 22

Dizziness: At 12:05 a.m., Fall City firefighters were called to the Preston area to assist an Eastside Fire & Rescue crew with a 60-year-old man who had fallen after becoming dizzy. The patient was evaluated on scene and elected to stay home rather than go to the hospital. He was advised to call 911 if his symptoms returned.

Malfunction: At 4:45 a.m., the Fall City Fire Department was dispatched to the Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie to assist the Snoqualmie Fire Department with a water flow alarm in the hotel’s fire protection system. The Snoqualmie crew searched the hotel and located the source of the malfunction. The Fall City crew was cancelled on scene once it was determined there was no fire.

Medical help: At 9:27 a.m., Fall City firefighters were called to a private residence to assist a patient with his insulin pen, which was not working properly. The patient was assisted and left at home.

Sunday, April 23

Cardiac arrest: At 2:25 p.m., Fall City firefighters were called to assist units from Eastside Fire & Rescue and medics from the Bellevue Fire Department for a cardiac arrest event at the Snoqualmie Casino. Despite the efforts of all on scene, the patient did not survive.

Tuesday, April 25

Abdominal pain: At 1:10 p.m., Fall City firefighters were called to a home for a 44-year-old patient who was experiencing abdominal pain. The patient was evaluated on scene and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Wednesday, April 26

Reevaluation: At 11:45 a.m., Fall City firefighters were called to a private home at the request of deputies from the King County Sheriff’s Office. Friends and family were concerned about the well-being of a patient. Firefighters evaluated the patient and determined that he had the mental capacity to stay at home rather than go to the hospital involuntarily.

Thursday April 20

False alarm: At 9:22 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters were dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at the Snoqualmie Ridge golf course clubhouse. The crew arrived to find the building evacuated. Staff members directed firefighters to the problem, a worker was working on the ducts when he shut off one in the system and set off the alarm. The crew put the alarm into test mode until the worker could complete his job.

False alarm: At 10:15 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters were dispatched to Mount Si High School for an automatic fire alarm sounding in the boys’ bathroom. Nothing was found in the bathroom, so the alarm was reset and students were allowed back into building.

Friday, April 21

False alarm: At 11:41 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters were dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at the Snoqualmie Tribe building. The crew investigated and found no smoke or red-flashing smoke detectors. They reset the alarm. Because of ongoing construction, the facility engineer put the system into test mode.

Saturday, April 22

False alarm: At 4:43 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to the Go Wireless Building for an automatic fire alarm related to a local power outage. The crew arrived and entered the building but found no alarm and no sign of problem. The fire alarm was still active, so no reset was needed.

Water flow: At 4:49 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to an automatic fire alarm with water flow at the Salish Lodge and Spa, related to a local power outage. The crew arrived, and found no problems. They checked the alarm panel, which showed one section that had water flow, but they found no water after checking the entire building. The crew silenced alarm and advised staff that they would be on fire watch. The crew remained on scene until the facilities engineer arrived.

Power outage: At 6:26 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to a second automatic fire alarm at the Salish Lodge & Spa. Staff reported another power outage that was the probable cause. The alarm panel did not read any active alarms and the engineer confirmed it was a false alarm.

Sunday, April 23

Smoke alarm: At 4:28 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to a smoke detector set off by someone smoking in the bathroom at Taco Del Mar. Firefighters ventilated the store and reset the alarm.

Monday, April 24

False alarm: At 5:33 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to a building on Better Way SE for a fire alarm. They arrived and determined that the alarm was in another building and not the address given by the alarm company. Once they located the correct building, firefighters determined that a child had set off the alarm at the pull station, and there was no fire. The crew reset the alarm, and advised the occupant to contact the property manager about getting child proof covers for the pull stations.

Tuesday, April 25

False alarm: At 9:13 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters were dispatched for a fire alarm on Railroad Ave SE. The crew was in the area and arrived to find a two-story business with no sign of fire. A worker on site said he set off the alarm with dust from construction.

Wednesday, April 26

Smoke: At 6:37 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to a possible appliance fire at a home on SE Elm Street. Upon arrival, the crew was met by residents. They stated the microwave just started smoking and got real hot. Residents said no one was using it at the time and it appeared all the smoke and heat was coming off the control panel side. The crew removed the microwave from its spot and placed it outside. There was no extension outside of the microwave itself.

Medical aid: In addition to the above calls, Snoqualmie EMTs responded to four medical aid incidents, bringing the total number of calls to date to 352.
