Blotter| Downed trees keep fire departments busy; Broken water main floods parking lot at Snoqualmie apartment building

Police and fire agencies in the Snoqualmie Valley responded to the following calls:

Fall City Fire Department

Thursday, Oct. 13

Structure fire: At 12:27 p.m., Fall City firefighters responded to North Bend to assist Eastside Fire and Rescue with a structure fire. They assisted in extinguishing the fire and clearing the area.

Alarm: At 9:50 p.m., firefighters were called to a business on Neal Road N.E. for an automatic fire alarm. Firefighters determined that smoke from a fireplace triggered the alarm and reset the alarm.

Friday, Oct. 14

Accident: At 5:51 a.m., Fall City firefighters responded to Snoqualmie to assist Snoqualmie Fire on a two-vehicle accident. Firefighters provided aid and transported a patient to a local hospital.

Hip pain: At 8:11 a.m., the department responded to West Snoqualmie River Road S.E. to assist a 59-year-old man who has having hip pain. They provided aid and transported the patient to an area hospital.

No fire: At 1:05 p.m., the department was called to the 33500 block of S.E. Fall City-Snoqualmie Road for a reported transformer fire. They found no problem at the site.

Tree down: At 3:01 p.m., Fall City Firefighters responded to the 29500 block of S.E. Issaquah-Fall City Road, where a tree had fallen over the road. They cleared the tree and opened the road.

Saturday, Oct. 15

Tree down: At 2:45 p.m., the department was called to the 37400 block of S.E. Fish Hatchery Rd., where a tree had fallen over the road. Firefighters cleared the tree from the road and opened the road.

Sunday, Oct. 16

Collision: At 11:24 a.m., Fall City Firefighters assisted Eastside Fire and Rescue with a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of N.E. Redmond-Fall City Rd. and Tolt Hill Rd. N.E.

Unable to walk: At 11:17 p.m., the department assisted a 59-year-old woman who was unable to walk. Firefighters provided aid and transported her to an area hospital.

Monday, Oct. 17

Alarm: At 12:14 a.m.,firefighters were called to a home on 289th Ave. N.E. for an automatic fire alarm. They found no sign of fire and reset the smoke detector.

Tuesday, Oct. 18

Medical alarm: At 4:15 a.m., firefighters saw a 83-year-old woman who had activated her medical alarm. They provided aid and transported the woman to an area hospital.

Broken wrist: At 12:28 p.m., the department assisted a 7-year-old girl who had fractured her wrist. Firefighters provided aid and transported the child and her father to an area hospital.

Wednesday, Oct. 19

Decreased consciousness: At 8:42 a.m., Fall City firefighters saw a 70-year-old woman with a decreased level of consciousness. They provided aid and transported her to an area hospital.

Evaluation: At 5:37 p.m., the department saw a 52-year-old woman who needed an evaluation. Firefighters provided aid and transported the patient to a local hospital.

Anxiety: At 8:16 p.m., firefighters saw a 38-year-old man who was having an anxiety attack. They transported him to an area hospital.

Snoqualmie Fire Department

Thursday, Oct. 13

Structure fire: At 12:23 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to the second floor of a two-story single family house on S.E. 151 Street along with Eastside Fire & Rescue. On scene, they were assigned to search the second floor of the home. They found no signs of fire and were released.

Water main: At 7:23 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to the Mountain View Apartments on S.E. Newton Street, where it was reported a water main may have broken, causing some flooding in the parking lot of the complex. It was unclear if the break was on the city side or the complex side, so Snoqualmie Public Works was called. The crew secured the water from the service valve in the middle of the road, shutting off water to the complex. Snoqualmie Public Works later restored the water service.

Friday, Oct. 14

Brush fire: At 1:13 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to a reported brush fire on S.E. Vaughan St. The incident turned out to be a tree that had fallen across three power lines, causing arcing and a blown circuit. Power was out in the area for a short time. The crew notified PSE and after determining there was no immediate threat, left the scene.

Tuesday, Oct. 18

Dead batteries: At 12:10 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters were called by a neighbor of an apartment on S.E. Swenson Drive that had several smoke detectors sounding. The crew found an unoccupied apartment with the front door unlocked and all three smoke detectors sounding. Two detectors had dead batteries and were removed.

False alarm: At 6:56 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to an automatic fire alarm at the Mount Si Freshman Campus. A night janitor met the crew and said a detector in a women’s bathroom in a portable classroom seemed to be malfunctioning. The janitor called a technician for repairs and the crew left the alarm system in “trouble” mode.

Medical aid: In addition, Snoqualmie EMTs responded to 14 medical aid incidents, bringing the total number of calls to date to 912.
