Carnation Elementary School librarian Ellen Irion faced a monumental task.

Irion had to pack up the contents of the school library to prepare for a major renovation project in her wing of the school, starting this summer.

The renovation at Carnation Elementary will provide more efficient heat, electricity and lighting, new shelving and equipment for the library.

But first, Irion had 14,000 boxes of books and materials to pack, and needed help. Assistance was provided in spades, as the Rotary Club of Duvall helped pack the books on Saturday, June 12. Rotary members teamed up with Riverview Superintendent Conrad Robertson, Principal Doug Poage, teachers Claire Eaton, Elizabeth Wing, Leyla Rocchi, and several parents for the effort.

Public librarian Jenn Carter took over most of Irion’s library classes to help the school librarian, enabling her to ready back rooms and prepare for the big pack-up.

Rotarians who helped include David Irion, Jeetendra Fallodia, Mary Lou Dreher, Sharol Klise and her husband, Kevin, Mike Nehl, Conrad Robertson, H. Bondar, N.J. Shelsby, and Amara Oden.
