An exercise in ‘Live Fire’

A real cooker: Crews from Eastside Fire & Rescue, Kirkland and Bellevue participated in Wildland Live Fire training last week on Department of Natural Resources property. During the exercise, two cabins, once privately owned, were burned with crews using gear that would typically be used to fight wildland fires. Participants measured air moisture, ground moisture and several other elements to determine the rate of spread of the fire.

DNR just recently acquired the property off of the Mount Si Road to complete a section on the back side of Mount Si. Bob Butterfield of EF&R watches one of the cabins burn.
