There were two vehicle accidents during the week of Thanksgiving, resulting in two fatalities and one injury, according to Washington State Patrol.

On the morning of Nov. 24 at 3:39 a.m., the Washington State Patrol received a report of a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 near Preston.

The vehicle, a 2000 Nissan Xterra, crashed head on into a Chevrolet Silverado truck traveling eastbound in lane two of I-90 near the Preston exit.

The driver of the Xterra, 29-year-old Jesse A. Christensen of Bellevue, died at the scene. The driver of the Silverado, 36-year-old Anthony J. Brusco of Port Orchard, was taken to Harborview Medical Center and at press time was listed in stable condition with a broken arm and heel.

Brusco had three springer spaniel dogs in the Silverado’s canopied truck bed. “Gunner,” a 5-year-old male thought to be missing, was later found alive in the truck. The other two dogs had been taken to Aerowood Animal Hospital in Bellevue and are recovering.

Possible impairment of the deceased driver is still under investigation. Next of kin has been notified.

At 12:57 p.m. on Nov. 22, the driver of a 1990 Subaru Legacy struck a tree after failing to navigate a curve while traveling eastbound on I-90 near milepost 28 near Snoqualmie.

Brian Andersson of North Bend, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene from a head injury after 30 minutes of attempted resuscitation with no signs of life. Police had responded to a report of erratic driving, but the vehicle crashed before officers arrived.

Possible impairment of the deceased driver is still under investigation. Next of kin has been notified.
