Valley events celebrate veterans, active duty men and women

Each year, the United States honors its veterans with a national holiday, Veterans Day. In observance of the holiday, many Snoqualmie Valley schools and organizations are hosting special celebrations over the next week.

Find your city in this list and then, find an event to honor those who served.

SNOQUALMIE

Thursday, Nov. 10

Veterans Day Assembly, 9:25 a.m.

Mount Si High School, 8651 Meadowbrook Way S.E., Snoqualmie

Mount Si High School will observe Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov. 10, with an assembly starting at 9:25 a.m. Guest speaker will be Michael Reagan, of the Fallen Heroes Project.

Veterans Day Reception and Assembly, 8:45 a.m.

Snoqualmie Elementary School, 39801 S.E. Park St., Snoqualmie

Veterans will be honored at a guest reception and school assembly at Snoqualmie Elementary School Thursday, Nov. 10. The reception is 8:45 to 9:30 a.m., followed by the assembly, 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. A slide show will highlight veterans and fourth grade students will sing.

All veterans are welcome; VIP parking is included.

Veterans Day Assembly, 9 a.m.

Cascade View Elementary School, 34816 S.E. Ridge St., Snoqualmie

Family members of Cascade View students who have served, or are currently serving, in the United States Armed Forces are invited to the school’s Veterans Day assembly, 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10.

Veterans Day Assembly, 9 a.m.,

Timber Ridge Elementary School, 34412 S.E. Swenson Dr., Snoqualmie

In its first observance of Veterans Day, Timber Ridge Elementary School will honor veterans with a reception at 8:30 a.m., followed by an assembly 9 to 9:45a.m. Members of the first grade, and the fourth and fifth grade choirs will sing and teacher Lena Baunsgard, a former Air Force captain, will be the guest speaker.

NORTH BEND

Thursday, Nov. 10

Veterans Day Assembly, 8 a.m.

Twin Falls Middle School, 46910 S.E. Middle Fork Rd., North Bend

Students will serve as emcees of the Twin Falls Veterans Day assembely, starting at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. Artist Michael Reagan of the Fallen Heroes Project will be a guest speaker. The event will also include band performances and a video made by a student.

Veterans Day Assembly, 9:30 a.m.

Opstad Elementary School, 1345 Stilson Ave. S.E., North Bend

All veterans are invited to Opstad Elementary’s assembly, starting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. In addition to comments from the principal, the program will include a musical performance by the school’s fifth graders, singing a song for each branch of the armed forces.

Veterans Day Assembly, 10 a.m.

North Bend Elementary School, 400 E. 3rd St., North Bend

In preparation for Veterans Day, North Bend Elementary fifth graders wrote essays on veterans and a few will read their essays aloud as part of the school’s program, starting at 10 a.m. Nov. 10. Kim Wagner’s second grade class will perform a skit on “America’s White Table” and the full fifth grade class will perform a states and capitols rap.

All veterans are invited to attend.

Friday, Nov. 11

Veterans Day Luncheon, 11:30 a.m.

Mount Si Senior Center, 411 Main Ave. S., North Bend

North Bend Mayor Ken Hearing will serve as master of ceremonies for the Mount Si Senior Center’s Veterans Day program, starting at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. The program will include a musical performance, Boy Scout Troop 466 serving as the color guard, and a lunch, free to all veterans and spouses.

Following the luncheon, Hearing will recognize veterans from the senior center and local organizations that service veterans.

FALL CITY

Thursday, Nov. 10

Veterans Day Assembly, 9:30 a.m.

Fall City Elementary School, 33314 S.E. 42nd St., Fall City

A Veterans’ Day assembly to honor men and women who have served, or are currently serving, in the armed forces begins at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Fall City Elementary School. All veterans are welcome and are encouraged to arrive at 9:15 a.m., before the assembly.

Following the assembly, the school host a tea to honor the guest veterans and their families.

Veterans Day Assembly, 1:45 p.m.

Chief Kanim Middle School, 32627 S.E. Redmond-Fall City Rd., Fall City

All veterans are invited to a recognition of Veterans Day at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Chief Kanim Middle School. Michael Reagan of the Fallen Heroes Project will speak, and the school band and choir will perform.

In connection with the Veterans Day observance, the school is also collecting worn-out American flags to be retired. Flags can be dropped off at the school office between 7:10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Members of the American Legion and Boy Scouts will take the flags for retirement.

CARNATION

Thursday, Nov. 10

Veterans Day Assembly, 1:50 p.m.

Tolt Middle School, 3740 Tolt Ave., Carnation

On Thursday, Nov. 10, at 1:50 p.m., Tolt Middle School will celebrate veterans in the community with an assembly. Guest speaker will be Marty Schencke of the Carnation American Legion. Tolt band and choir students will give musical performances.

All veterans in the community are welcome.

Friday, Nov. 11

Veterans Day Breakfast, 8 to 10 a.m.

Snoqualmie Valley Senior Center, 4610 Stephens Ave., Carnation

Veterans are invited to enjoy a free home-cooked breakfast, 8 to 10 a.m. on Nov. 11, Veterans Day, at the Sno-Valley Senior Center, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Duvall and American Legion.

Monday, Nov. 14

Veterans Day Assembly, 9:40 a.m.

Stillwater Elementary School, 11530 320th Ave. N.E., Carnation

Stillwater Elementary School encourages all Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts to come to school in uniform on Monday, Nov. 14, to show respect for the observance of VeteransDay.

DUVALL

Thursday, Nov. 10

Veterans Day Assembly, 9:20 a.m.

Cherry Valley Elementary School, 26701 N.E. Cherry Valley Rd., Duvall

Cherry Valley Elementary will celebrate Veterans Day with an assembly at 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, in the school gym. Students will be involved in the presentation. to honor veterans, both past and present. Parents, families, friends, and veterans are invited.
