More than a dozen student photographers shared their scenic visions of the Valley in the 2010 Scenic Photo Contest.

Student viewpoints shared a whole new way of looking at the Valley. Unusual angles, such as Hayley Haskett’s tilted view down a local hillside, or Kaitlyn Usselman’s downward gaze at a waterfall, appeared next to view of wildlife, such as Shelby Seller’s wandering deer, or Sierra Morin’s icy waterfall.

Staff chose Megan Caros’s hypnotic image of Lower Valley farm buildings seemingly hovering above their own mirror image in her “Carnation Flood” shot as the first place winner.

Korey Krause took second for a watery shot. Korey’s sister threw a pebble into the Snoqualmie River, and the photo show the resulting splash. Lydia Petroske netted third for a friendly chipmunk prowling in her backyard.
