With a positive vote by both the SnoValley Chamber of Commerce and members of the United Methodist Church, the public will be hearing at noon Nov. 1, first the gentle chime of the 100-year-old bell from the steeple of the United Methodist Church, followed by the shortened fire siren of the firemen’s historic call to action for an active fire.

Because some tourists seem to be frightened by the lone fire siren sound, it was decided by a compromise introduced by Carol Peterson, a longtime native of Snoqualmie, that both sounds at noon would be beneficial in celebrating the history of the fire siren sitting atop the Sigillo Cellars building and honoring past mayor Charles Peterson and electrical wizard Ed Wentz (both of whom have passed away). The fire siren will continue to ring at noon with the more comforting sound of the church bell preceding it. Russ Wentz (son of Ed Wentz) continues to monitor the siren.

Both the fire siren and the Methodist Church bell have over a 100-year history in Snoqualmie and both businesses and church members felt continuing this tradition important.

The public should listen starting at noon Nov. 1, 2025, when both sounds will ring out in downtown old Snoqualmie.
