The Snoqualmie Police Department is offering a self-defense course designed for women of any fitness level. The class teaches techniques ranging from risk reduction to real-life scenarios, for women ages 16 and up who live or work in Snoqualmie or North Bend.

The four-day class runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 27 to 28, and Oct. 4 to 5.

Using the nationally-recognized Rape Aggression Defense System (RAD) program, course instructors discuss techniques to use against various types of assault and proven self-defense tactics, from hands-on methods to crime prevention, risk reduction, and avoidance.

Certified instructors Corporal Nigel Draveling and retired officer Dave Bond will teach the course. Future course offerings include advanced self-defense and aerosol self-defense.

Participants must attend all four classes for a total of 12 hours. Classes will be held at Cascade Covenant Church, 13225 436th Ave. SE in North Bend. Cost of the course is $30, payable by cash or check the first day of class.
