Ray Brown’s ‘last pianist’ will play two nights at Boxley’s

Larry Fuller will perform with his trio Dec. 5 and 6.

In a special appearance, the Larry Fuller Trio, led by pianist Larry Fuller, will perform for two nights at North Bend’s Boxley’s jazz club.

Fuller will perform Dec. 5 and Dec. 6, joined by Lorin Cohen on bass and Carmen Intorre Jr. on drums.

Fuller, a Yamaha-endorsed artist, made a name for himself in the early 2000s performing with legendary bassist Ray Brown. He also performed with three other big names of jazz: famed vocalist Ernestine Anderson, drum great Jeff Hamilton and acclaimed guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli.

“Fuller translates that invaluable experience into a deeply personal statement of jubilation, communicated through rhythmically charged, yet sensitively inflected, improvisation,” a news release states. “In his programming, he injects soul and cheer into the Great American Songbook, jazz, blues, pop standards and originals, bringing his own take to a sweeping variety of music.

“At Boxley’s, expect to hear anything from Stevie Wonder to Oscar Peterson, Wes Montgomery to Ray Brown, George Gershwin to Joni Mitchell.”

Tickets are $40 for the general public and $10 for club members. To purchase, visit jazzclubsnw.org/calendar.html.
