• “Business as usual, but under new ownership” is the order of the day at Mount Si Bowl. On Monday, Dec. 1, final papers were signed and Nels Nelson, manager, stepped in as owner. It will seem strange to be on the other side of the desk, as a “customer,” said former owner Paul Hoff.

• Ira Heath, 43, who at one time owned a mink ranch on Union Hill near Redmond and, until his disappearance a week ago last Sunday, lived with the Clifford Pearces of Duvall, is believed drowned in the Valley flood waters. Deputy Sheriff “Shorty” Landers told the Record that Heath’s family and friends started a search for the missing man when a car he had been driving early that morning was found three days later. The car was up to its hub caps in water under a railroad underpass.

• Residents of Snoqualmie and vicinity were startled from their last snooze Tuesday morning, about 4:20 a.m., when a shock like an earthquake disturbed their slumbers. After months of peace, a racketeer bombing had burst out afresh in King County.
