Snoqualmie Valley School District No. 410 will hire two additional teachers for the next school year, it was voted at the regular monthly meeting of the School Board Monday night. Superintendent Gordon McIntire pointed out that the enrollment projection for 1966-67 shows a possibility of 2,190 students, 44 more than the present number. He said that by adding one teacher at Fall City and one at North Bend Elementary, the teacher-pupil ratio would be 26.2 for the district’s elementary students.

The North Bend Ranger Station reports a rapid annual increase in winter sports recreation at Snoqualmie Pass. Night skiing has increased by almost half over last year with a total of 47,714 night enthusiasts as compared to 36,859 for the same time last year. Total visits are now nearing the 230,000 mark.

According to the Washington Department of Wildlife, Washington citizens will have more influence over freshwater and steelhead fishing regulations because of a change in the way state wildlife officials do business. The Washington Wildlife Commission has decided to test a new decision making process, intended to improve public involvement and to minimize surprises in the adoption of fishing seasons.

A bill which would encourage community involvement to help stop crime has been co-sponsored by Representative John Betrozoff, R-Redmond. HB 1367 would appropriate $400,000 from the general fund to the attorney general to establish a Crime Stoppers assistance office to work in conjunction with local Crime Stoppers organizations, sheriffs and police chiefs to design model programs and provide training and assistance to local communities.
