Out of the Past: Fire destroys everything at Fall City second-hand store; Wildcat basketballers get support at state

March 9, 1989

• This year marks the 30th consecutive performance of the Fall City Passion Play. The local version, been seen by nearly 64,000 people, is one of the very few passion plays in the country that is produced annually. It began in 1959 as part of the Easter program at the Fall City Methodist Church, and is now performed by the Forest Theater.

March 12, 1964

• A blazing fire with flames visible from all parts of Fall City destroyed one of the town’s older landmarks. The old second-hand store, renamed Fall City Furniture, and its contents were consumed in a fire fought for five hours by 18 Fall City volunteers and firefighters from outside the community.

• Chris Barry, captain of the Wildcats, spoke for the entire basketball squad when, he along with coaches, expressed appreciation for the great support the Valley has shown then during both the season and at the state tournament.
