North Bend camp could become 300-bed jail | Man falls from Snoqualmie Falls cliff | Out of the Past

The "forestry camp" that's proposed for a 40-acre site east of North Bend will now be a 300-bed jail, if a bill proposed by the governor goes through. The camp is one of six work camps being considered. Construction of the North Bend prison is planned for 1991. A 28-year-old man fell from the Snoqualmie Falls precipice. Police answered a 911 call about the man, who was on the wrong side of the fence barrier. The cause was reported as an accident and is under investigation.

Nov. 5, 1964

Death came suddenly on Monday morning to Miss Rachel Sealls, 65, of North Bend, who suffered a stroke. A teacher at Mount Si for the past 30 years, Miss Seller was teaching French, Latin and Washington History.

Although Dan Evans, Republican, won a smash victory over Gov. Albert Rosellini and thus became the youngest governor ever elected in this state, he lost a 198-vote margin to the incumbent in all precincts in the Valley.
