The Washington State American Legion Band will give a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Veterans Memorial Park located next to the American Legion Auxiliary Post in Snoqualmie. The public is invited and seating is available in the park; the band will perform in the street, facing the memorial park.

Snoqualmie’s American Legion Auxiliary is hosting the concert, as a way of thanking the community for honoring veterans, says Auxiliary president Pam Collingwood. The organization hopes to make the concert an annual event.

In recognition of the shooting deaths of four Marines in Tennessee on July 16, the event will include a color guard presentation, and flags will be lowered to half staff.

The Washington State American Legion Band, established in 1924, has 60 members, and is the only American Legion musical organization in the state. The band plays marches, overtures, waltzes and other traditional music.
