Master gardeners discuss growing roses, controlling pests Saturday at North Bend Library

Master Gardeners of Snoqualmie Valley will host a free “In the Garden” workshop on growing roses in the Pacific Northwest without chemicals, with Faith Gant, Issaquah Master Gardener, 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 13 at North Bend Library,115 E 4th St., North Bend.

Gant, who is also a Master Rosarian and Rose Horticulture Judge, will give the same talk at 2 p.m. at the Sammamish Beaver Lake Lodge, 25201 SE 24th St. Sammamish.

In her presentation, she will discuss biological, cultural, mechanical and chemical methods to control rose pests and diseases. Her passion is old garden roses and her own garden has approximately 200 roses.

The next “In the Garden” talk will be June 10, on dahlias.
