Cascade Trio brews up jazz blend at Center Stage

The Cascade Jazz Trio serves up energy, elegance and a blend of standard, modern and original jazz, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Valley Center Stage.

Musicians John Chmaj, Brian Gmerek and Courtney Crawford make up the trio, often bringing in special ‘sit-in’ guests. The trio plays every style of jazz and standards, as well as accompanying different guest artists with different musical styles each month.

Tickets are $12.50. Valley Center Stage is located at 119 North Bend Way in downtown North Bend, on the second floor of the Unity Masonic Lodge above SingleTrack Cycles.

Celtic strings in concert

Fall City Arts is sponsoring a free concert by Celtic band Magical Strings in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

The concert is 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Chief Kanim Middle School Commons.

With dancing hammers and pulsating strings, the distinctive music of Magical Strings has been described as warm, graceful and sonically gorgeous.

Over the past 25 years, the band has drawn a following worldwide, both through their energetic arrangements of Celtic music and their own engaging compositions, intertwining Celtic roots with classical and world music influences.
