The Snoqualmie Valley Girls Choir will host an open house, 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Snoqualmie Methodist Church in Snoqualmie. All are invited to learn more about the choir, meet the director and many of the choir members.

The no-audition choir offers music enrichment for home-school students, as well as any youth looking for more music opportunities.

Choir membership includes voice development training, at least one concert performance each year, other singing opportunities throughout the year, opportunities to learn to conduct and a public service component with performances at senior centers and hospitals.

Music develops areas of the brain that are not developed by any other activity. Music created in a group has been shown to help further social skill development.

Interested girls are also welcome to visit the choir during a rehearsal. The new season starts Sept. 7. Rehearsals are 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursdays, for girls in grades 4 to 6; 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. for girls in grades 7 to 12. All rehearsals are at the Snoqualmie Methodist Church in Snoqualmie.
