Get the dirt on soils at first Master Gardener talk of season

The Master Gardeners of Snoqualmie Valley are again offering a series of garden speakers on Saturdays from February through June. The speakers will present at the North Bend Library and a location in Sammamish.

The first garden talk, “The Dirt on Soils,” is Saturday, Feb. 11, starting at 10:30 a.m. at North Bend Library, 115 E. St., North Bend, and 2 p.m. at the Beaver Lake Lodge, 25201 SE 24th St. Sammamish.

Speaker Karen Benson has been a master gardener for 11 years. She will teach you how to determine the type of soil your plants are growing in, how to tell whether your plants are getting the nutrition they need and tips on how to improve your soil for plant health.

Master Gardener Elaine Keehn on water-wise gardening April 8;

Master Gardener Faith Gant discussing roses May 13; and

Vintner and retired Master Gardener Bill Grassie discussing dahlias, June 10.
