Carnation horse rescue team welcomes new volunteers at orientation

The Cowgirl Spirit Rescue Drill Team welcomes new volunteers at an orientation day, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 27, at the group’s Carnation headquarters.

The team is run solely by volunteers who dedicate hours of their time each week to save and care for slaughter-bound and neglected horses.

Cowgirl Spirit’s mission is to raise awareness of equine slaughter in America by education and by rescuing supposedly worthless slaughter-bound horses. With affection, training and dedication, team members develop their skill and spirit through equestrian drill competition, then fulfill their promise by placing these horses in new adoptive homes to give them long, happy lives as riding companions.
