Carnation Friends ready benefit auction, game night to help Memorial Park

Friends of Valley Memorial Park (FVMP), a sub-committee of MOMS Club of Carnation is excited to announce several fundraisers that will be occurring over the next couple of months.

The Friends are a grassroots effort to raise money to make improvements to Valley Memorial Park in Carnation.

The group has already pruned and cleaned up trees, brush and bushes at the park, while Eagle Scouts have restored the World War II monument and erected a new flag pole.

The group’s goal is to raise enough funds to purchase playground equipment, improve the BMX track, add a covered picnic shelter, add basketball hoops and improve the lighting. They have already raised more than $8,000 and are looking forward to their next set of fundraisers.

Upcoming benefits include a bunco night and open house, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at TreeHouse Point on March 23. There will be appetizers and a no-host bar available throughout the evening. Admission is $25, with $20 going to the fundraiser and $5 going to the prize pool.

A benefit auction is 6 p.m. Saturday, April 17, Four Gables Farm in Fall City. Some of the items include a four-night stay on the beautiful island of Kauai and a weekend get-away at Palm Springs, a Big Rock Retreat.

Tassin Smith, Friends chairperson is very excited about the potential of the park. I would like to thank all the great volunteers and local businesses for their support and enthusiasm. We are making a positive impact on our community.
