The family of Jennifer Luey would like to thank the Valley community for their outpouring of support during her recent fight with cancer and her ultimate passing.
In an article about the railroad trestle over Tokul Creek (“Snoqualmie’s 100-foot Tokul Creek Trestle still draws travelers,” Oct. 17, 2014), which is now part of the John Wayne Trail, it was stated that the rail line extended from Moncton to Everett.
It is Thanksgiving, and I have an overdue note of gratitude to those I have known in the Valley since July of 1984. Like everyone else in the world I have many roles; have doctored in the community, and am your neighbor, a parent and fellow consumer, too.
Awkwardly, sometimes I am the person you have seen chasing her cows, or her horses, or the odd chicken herd down the main road. I now work on the Issaquah/Sammamish Plateau at Lakeside Family Physicians. It is a lovely, vibrant, clinic with marvelous partners and great staff.
Regarding your recent editorial bemoaning Carnation’s decision to not increase taxes to add more police coverage like North Bend, I respectfully disagree with your opinion.
On behalf of the American Legion Auxiliary, I’d like to give a big “Thank You” to the North Bend Theater for honoring our veterans on Veteran’s Day with the free movie “Battleship”.
Thanks also to all who attended the film and to those who donated toward the care packages for our troops
Small businesses are here for all of us. On Saturday, Nov. 29, be there for them.
When you spend your money locally, your money stays in your community, supporting local-owned businesses and services. Our community benefits!
On Veterans Day, it is important to reach out and honor our veterans. According to a recent United States Census estimate, U.S. military veterans make up nearly 7 percent of our country’s population. The U.S. Department of Defense reports state that since Sept. 11, 2001, more than 2.6 million veterans have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of these combat veterans, it is estimated over 1 million returned home with at least one service-related disability or injury.
Dave Reichert is the clear choice to represent those in the Eighth District. During his tenure, Congressman Reichert has demonstrated that he has a strong understanding of the issues that matter to the constituents of the district. This is apparent by his numerous endorsements, which include the National Education Association, Washington Small Business Council, the Seattle Times, and major public safety organizations.
Please vote no on I-594. This bill is not about closing loopholes in purchases of firearms, but is about gun control, period.
For instance, if I give my guns to my son for safekeeping while I am on vacation, we have broken the law. If I want to teach my wife safe gun handling at any place other than a shooting range, we are criminals. If I teach a youth group about gun safety and let them handle a gun, we are all criminals. That is not about closing loopholes.
Jennifer Luey, our employee at Ace Hardware, as everyone may or may not know, has been out ill fighting lung cancer since mid-June.
Jennifer and all the staff of North Bend Ace Hardware would like to express their deep appreciation of support she has received from the community.
It’s simple. Every child in the Snoqualmie Valley is worthy of the opportunity to learn in an uncrowded classroom. By voting yes on Initiative 1351, you will be providing our Valley’s children with the kind of education they deserve. Here’s why: Washington ranks 47th out of 50 states in class size. I-1351 moves us to the middle.
I haven’t paid much attention to all the talk about the new Snoqualmie Hospital; and I don’t live in Snoqualmie or the Ridge. But lately I’ve had to drive past the I-90-Highway 18 interchange quite often, and most of the time when I pass it, there’s a long line of cars waiting to exit—in both directions. Once, I even had to be in the afternoon line of cars for 10 minutes, just to turn right onto the Parkway.
I am writing to raise awareness of the brutal, unsafe, and irresponsible practice of horse slaughter.
