Dr. Robert Winrow has been named medical director of Northwest Kidney Centers’ Snoqualmie Ridge Kidney Center in Snoqualmie. As medical director, he is responsible for overseeing overall patient care at the kidney center.

A nephrologist, Winrow was recently the Medical Advisor of Northwest Kidney Centers’ Diabetes Program in Seattle. In his role at Snoqualmie Ridge Kidney Center he will oversee quality improvement projects and continuing education for the staff. “I can also serve as a resource for people, both inside and outside the kidney center, on kidney disease in general and dialysis specifically,” he said.

Winrow practices nephrology at Minor & James Medical clinic in Seattle and is on the Medical Review Board of the Swedish Organ Transplant Program in Seattle.

A 2002 graduate of the Ohio State University School of Medicine, Winrow said he chose the field of nephrology to help patients who have chronic illnesses.

“The ability to completely replace an organ system to allow someone to live a longer and more fulfilling life was quite enticing,” he said, referring to kidney transplantation, which many of his patients benefit from.

Winrow completed a Fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Washington Medical Center, where he was Chief Renal Fellow. He also completed an Advanced Dialysis Fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center.

He is a member of the King County Medical Society, Washington State Medical Association, American Society of Nephrology, Renal Physicians Association, National Kidney Foundation, International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis, and the International Society of Hemodialysis.

Winrow was born in England and grew up in a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. He now lives in Seattle. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, classical trumpet music, reading and exercising.

Snoqualmie Ridge Kidney Center is located at 35131 SE Douglas St., Suite 113.
