Valley businesses take over rural category of King County awards

Aroma Coffee Co., Chickadee Bakeshop and Lora Lee’s Family Farm are 2025 finalists.

Snoqualmie Valley businesses have taken every finalist spot for the King County Executive’s Rural Small Business of the Year award.

Each year, the King County executive chooses small businesses of the year from a pool of countywide nominees. There are eight categories, each with three finalists, and the winners will be announced at an event Oct. 1.

This year, all three finalists for Rural Small Business of the Year are Snoqualmie Valley businesses: Aroma Coffee Co. in Fall City, Chickadee Bakeshop in Snoqualmie and Lora Lee’s Family Farm in Duvall.

“None of this would be possible without our amazing customers and community,” says a post on Lora Lee’s Facebook page. “Thank you for supporting us every step of the way.”

Chickadee Bakeshop, which reopened in July after a fire in April 2024, also expressed its gratitude in a Facebook post.

“We appreciate our locals who have supported us for the last five years, you are our friends and family,” the post says. “We love that we know your names and that you include us in your lives. Running a small business isn’t easy, but we think being in community is where we are meant to be.”
