Changes are coming to one of downtown Snoqualmie’s most popular eateries.

Twede’s Cafe owner Kyle Twede is now the main man behind the cafe counter at Snoqualmie Falls Candy Factory, soon to be called the Chew-Chew Cafe and Candy Store.

Candy Factory owners Wes Sorstokke and Sharon Nikko sold their interest in the cafe to Twede’s, effective May 1. Sorstokke and Nikko will keep the Candy Factory name and concentrate on making sweets from their space inside the current location.

“We’re going to be here practically every day, making candy,” Sorstokke said.

Leasing the cafe side of things to Twede’s is a positive for Sorstokke, who rarely had time to promote his candy because the kitchen kept him busy.

He plans to spend more time on the road in the summer, showing off Candy Factory goodies at regional fairs.

“We’ll be able to flex a little bit more,” he said. “We love running the store, but we can’t do everything.”

The Chew-Chew Cafe and Candy Store will have a railroad theme and train mural, tying it in to the tourist-attracting Northwest Railway Museum nearby.

“If it weren’t for the train, I wouldn’t be there,” Twede said. “We really want to encourage the train.”

Twede plans to expand and improve the cafe’s menu.

“We’re going to make it the biggest treat shop around,” he said.
