With their new business, Valley residents David and Amanda Gerber aim to give dog owners peace of mind, and cleaner back yards.

The Snoqualmie couple recently started a new enterprise, Poopless in Seattle, offering services to clean up dog business from residential yards and city parks, allowing pet owners’ families to enjoy their pets without worrying about stepping in something Rover left behind.

The business might be considered a dirty job, said David Gerber.

“If not dirty, then smelly,” he added.

David, who currently drives a cement truck for Glacier Northwest, and Amanda, a former nine-year teacher in Valley schools and now a tutor, hope to turn Poopless in Seattle into their main family enterprise.

While Amanda handles the administrative end, David is the one handling the scoop. Their business covers the greater Eastside.

The unusual name came about while Amanda was considering some catchy monikers for the business. So far, it’s drawn interest as well as some laughs.

David first read about a professional scoop business in California. The idea had been in his head for about five years.

“I thought, what a great idea,” he said. “It’s a needed service.”

Poopless in Seattle helps people that are either too busy to scoop up after their pets, who don’t much fancy the idea of scooping, or both.

David can also let them know if their pet has health problems, such as worms, since he’s the one doing the scooping.

The Gerbers have pets of their own, a yellow Lab and a cat.

Poopless in Seattle offers one- and two-day-a-week pickup, early, late, and weekend pickup times, and last-minute service is available. No contract is required, and services can be customized for a variety of pet owners’ needs.David wears a uniform, so that customers know he’s who he’s supposed to be.
